Q: Does Alpha Phi haze it's new members?
A: Absolutely not! We would never ask you to to something that we, ourselves, wouldn't do. Our organization is all about uplifting it's members - not degrading them.
Q: How much does Alpha Phi cost?
A: Each semester, every member of Alpha Phi pays "dues." These costs cover International Fees, activities, T-shirts, food, United Greek Council fees, website access, campus fees, etc. Each new member pays $350 for her first semester (the additional fee covers her New Member Pin, her 24K Gold Member Badge, and International new member fees). This fee must be paid before Initiation. Each semester after that, our members pay $300. You will never be asked to pay more money out-of-pocket, unless it is for optional items such as extra shirts. All of our social events (Formals, Italian Wedding, etc.), service events (Red Dress Gala, Philanthropy Week, etc.), shirts (rush, philanthropy, homecoming, etc.), and decorations are covered by our member's dues. If needed, payment plans are available to help spread out the cost.
Q: How do I register for recruitment?
A: Simply fill out a registration form at http://stilsuu.com/how-to-join
Q: Why register for recruitment?
A: The Office of Student Involvement and Leadership is asking all potential new members to register so that they can keep accurate data on the number of women and men who are interested in Greek Life. It is essentially an effort to assess the effectiveness of recruitment.
Q: What is a Bid? And what is Bid Day?
A: A bid is our invitation to you to become a new member of Alpha Phi. Bid Day occurs at the conclusion of recruitment and serves as a celebration of our chapter's newest members.
Q: What is a COB?
A: Following recruitment, you are either given a Bid or a COB. A COB (continuous open bidding) is an opportunity to pledge a sorority outside of formal recruitment. Due to a limited chapter allowable size, we can not give bids to everyone who rushes Alpha Phi. Throughout the year, we will hold various open activities for COBs to come out and have an opportunity to become a new member of Alpha Phi.
